The Stars Rise…

Tuesday, January 20, 2009
(NEW YORK) The Fashion Group International has a way of cultivating stars, and next week, the newest generation will be named. From Donatella Versace, who won the Superstar award at the FGI’s Night of Stars in October, to Jason Wu, the recipient of the Rising Star award last year, those honored by the FGI tend to go places. Next Thursday at the Rainbow Room, the Group will present their 12th annual Rising Star Awards to honorees in accessories, beauty, home design, fragrance, jewelry, retail, and men’s and women’s apparel. Sponsored by bebe and InStyle, the event will feature a keynote address by Tory Burch, who won the Rising Star award in retail in 2005.

Yes We Did
Sunday, January 25th, 2009
I was reading the New York Post this past Sunday, sipping on my soy misto at Starbucks, and was really inspired by all of the coverage on the upcoming inauguration of Barack Obama, so I decided to hop on a train and head to DC to be part of the action. It turned out to be quite the journey. I arrived at 1:45 am on MLK day to find 500 other people waiting in the taxi line at the train station. It was next to impossible to get a cab and it was freezing!

On Tuesday, January 20, I’m lucky enough to say that I was able to witness history. Throngs of people headed towards Capitol Hill–an estimated 2 million were there to witness Obama’s oath and inauguration ceremony. The spirit was contagious. I walked by crowds of people holding signs and Barack Puppets.

Isaac Mizrahi’s Holiday Picks: Yours truly made the cut…
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

I don’t know about you, but giving gifts stresses me out! I mean, wrapping them in pretty paper and tying beautiful bows, even writing the Holiday notes can be quite therapeutic for me, but actually deciding what to give to whom makes me pretty anxious. Lucky for me, my family celebrates Hanukkah, so I have 8 days to hit the nail on the head with the perfect gift instead of just one shot: sorry Xmas friends! Thankfully, Daily Candy’s Dannielle Kyrillos & Isaac Mizrahi narrow down the best gift ideas. The DANNIJO Aphrodite and Collette Cuffs made #1.
