Continuing with the DANNIJO Holiday Gift Guide, we chose Leigh Hunter Long as our second gift guide profile.  Leigh grew up with Jodie and I in Jacksonville, FL and is one of the coolest, most down-to-earth and lovable girls I know.  She describes her style as “simple” and “loves black and white.”  Leigh always looks so put together but in an effortless and approachable way.  She’s a Southern belle, works in finance in New York (her husband is in Columbia business school) and is a total guys-girl.  On weekend’s you’ll find her drinking beer with the boys (yeah, she’s cool).  Sorry single guys, she’s taken, but she gives great advice for those of you who are smitten and trying to figure out what gift to get your girl for the holidays.

SEE The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum at the NYC Annex in SoHo.  I went with some friends on what would have been John Lennon’s 69th birthday to check out JOHN LENNON: THE NEW YORK CITY YEARS exhibit produced by Yoko Ono, and was blown away by the museum.  As you walk through the exhibit, you wear headphones that magically adjust to play a perfectly in sync “soundtrack” to your experience.  While you’re checking out Johnny Cash’s customized boots and original guitar, “Walk The Line” comes on… as you walk over to Michael Jackson’s handwritten scrapbook of lyrics and gloves, “Bad” blares.  I read an amusing handwritten letter Paul Simon had written to Art Garfunkel from camp (mainly about babes and hot chicks) while Simon & Garfunkel classics played on my headset.  I dorked out– literally could have spent all day there, and I may have to go back again soon to read all the bits I missed in the nooks and crannies.  It was great inspiration for DANNIJO.  You’ll be sure to see some references in the upcoming collection.  Definitely worth checking out–especially if you’re a local.

The must-have summer accessory (besides DANNIJO of course) is vibrant nail polish—seen on the likes of our favorite rocker girls from Rihanna to Beyonce.  Nail polish is an easy and quick way to add flavor to almost any summer look, especially when combined with fashion jewelry.  Essie and OPI’s summer collections both feature bright and eclectic colors, ranging from Essie’s “cute as button” (a persimmon-esque look) to OPI’s “Done Out in Deco” (a quirky lilac purple).

The talented Turnbow uses inspiration from every era to create natural and effortless looks. While doing their makeup, the girls chatted about everything from makeup advice to DANNIJO.
