DANNIJO Voted #1 Jewelry Designer of ‘09 + other good stuff

Fabsugar ranked DANNIJO as the #1 jewelry designer for 2009 so we’re going to celebrate more than just the New Year on Thursday night. Collectively celebrate with us by rocking your DANNIJO on the 31st and be sure to send in your New Years pics so we can include you in our upcoming style post.

HEAR

1. Laid Back’s “Bakerman”  if you want something chill, and watch the quirky video below ’cause it’s pretty ridiculous:

2. Mike Oldfield’s “Tubular Bells” kicks ass in a very instrumental way (it’s all instrumental and Mike plays over 20 instruments in it). This was Virgin Records first recording—download part 1 (the full song is 45 min). It’s like the beginning to every good movie—it’s all anticipation.

DANNIJO’s Dad Honored with “12 Who Care”

Since DANNIJO’s start was largely inspired by our Dad, Dr. Gary Snyder, (we got our start making jewelry by using his medical tool kit to teach ourselves wirework) we couldn’t be more proud of his most recent accomplishment– he’s being honored for his big heart and philanthropic ambitions on the Jacksonville local News as one of “12 Who Cares.” Check it out. We’re beaming with pride. We love you Dad!

DANNIJO’s Danielle Snyder & Jodie Snyder named Inc.com’s 30 Under 30 “America’s Coolest Young Entrepreneurs”

Growing up in Jacksonville, Florida, sisters Danielle Snyder and Jodie Snyder discovered a knack for designing jewelry while playing around with their father’s medical tool kit. As teenagers, they taught themselves wire work with old surgical forceps and clamps, which are similar to jewelry-making tools, and began exploring their own design aesthetics. Soon the girls had designed enough necklaces, bracelets, and other accessories to sell, and while in high school, they opened a small retail store called Dannijo Jewels with the help of a small loan and a month-to-month lease. The store did fairly well, and they tried to run it remotely after heading off to college, but they eventually closed up shop to pursue other priorities.

Fashion Group International to honor this year’s up-and-comers

(NEW YORK) The Fashion Group International has a way of cultivating stars, and next week, the newest generation will be named. From Donatella Versace, who won the Superstar award at the FGI’s Night of Stars in October, to Jason Wu, the recipient of the Rising Star award last year, those honored by the FGI tend to go places. Next Thursday at the Rainbow Room, the Group will present their 12th annual Rising Star Awards to honorees in accessories, beauty, home design, fragrance, jewelry, retail, and men’s and women’s apparel. Sponsored by bebe and InStyle, the event will feature a keynote address by Tory Burch, who won the Rising Star award in retail in 2005.
