DANNI'S WEDDING DAY LOOK: THE SHOES, THE JEWELS - AND THE STORY BEHIND THAT DRESS

From our extraordinary planners to the venue of dreams, my wedding on Harbour Island was unquestionably the best few days of my life. But finding a dress to live up to the occasion took some time...

THE DRESS

Initially, I thought my dress would either be vintage or something I designed myself. I started researching and trying on various designers’ gowns and experimenting with different silhouettes. I really enjoyed working with Jillian at Mark Ingram Bridal and playing dress up in their vast selection of styles. After trying on a Reem Acra dress that I liked but wanted to customize, she recommended I meet Reem in person.

Reem and I hit it off immediately — it was like love at first sight. Her energy, intuition and knowledge about all things bridal made her the perfect designer to work with.

My favorite part of the dress is that I had the words ‘LOVE YOU’ embroidered in sequins under the skirt. It looks like a bodysuit, but it’s actually all one piece!

THE JEWELRY

I wanted my bridal look to be a mix of beachy, vintage, romantic and feminine, and I created custom DANNIJO jewelry to bring my vision to life. Since my dress already felt like a jewel in itself, I designed the Pippa headpiece and dainty pavé hoop drop earrings. Shop my wedding edit here.

THE SHOES

My ceremony took place on the beach, ruling out high heels, but I found it next to impossible to find bridal wedges that I loved. I ended up collaborating with my dear friend Eric Rutberg to create the ultimate Cinderella-inspired DANNIJO lucite wedge. What do you think? Should we produce these?

THE BEAUTY

It was important that I worked with people I also really enjoyed as friends because at a destination wedding you spend a lot of time together. I absolutely adore Eric Polito and Owen Gould and their work is perfection. They both really get me and my vibe and they have the best energy.

Given the beach location, I wanted my hair and makeup to look effortless and natural. Owen styled my hair in a low, messy knot finished with my DANNIJO Pippa headpiece. I wore a gorgeous Chantilly lace silk robe by Daphne Newman x Over The Moon for the hair and makeup session.

For the rehearsal dinner, Owen styled my hair in an epic messy, braided up-do finished with the DANNIJO Dina barrettes.

Continue the party with late-night drinks at Parker & Lenox, a speakeasy that regularly flies musicians in from New York or Buenos Aires to perform at weekends, and for salsa dancing, Club San Luis in Roma Sur is an experience in itself. It has a 20-piece live band, and the dancing is phenomenal.
