DANNIJO Pops-up in San Francisco

This past week was the first time San Francisco actually felt like home for me since moving here from NYC two and a half years ago at the start of the pandemic. Friends old and new gathered to celebrate the return of Maiden Lane — once known as the jewel of San Francisco — with its shiniest new stop: the DANNIJO x Blake Charles Pop-up.
The evening refreshingly felt like a slice of NYC in the Bay Area: everyone from Warriors and Giants players to tech execs and fashion folk alike, gathered for a summer soiree that spilled out into the streets. Attendees experienced the first ever DANNIJO 'slip bar' alongside archival jewelry dating back to the brand's beginnings in 2008.
Guests sipped on Joseph Phelps wine while DJ Dojah riffed with Violinist Shaina Evoniuk and hosts Vanessa GettyChristina IguodalaAlexis Pence and Blake McCall made everyone feel at home.

The partnership with Blake Charles Salon was organic. I was getting my haircut at the salon months ago when Blake came over and mentioned wanting to do something at the intersection of beauty and fashion on Maiden Lane. He showed me the space he had envisioned for the project (which was formerly a Marni store) and it had amazing energy and light. I loved the idea of having a one-stop shop: a place where you could get your haircut, have a mani/pedi or facial and then do some shopping.

Ultimately though, I pursued the opportunity because it was also an important creative outlet I needed. Not only did I want to put energy towards reviving this jewel of a street in San Francisco post-pandemic, but I also wanted to revive my spirit. I had a difficult journey as a mother last year when I miscarried at 23 weeks, and that was the real impetus for my wanting to bring DANNIJO to the Bay Area. DANNIJO was sort of the one friend I was still missing here and it made me feel closer to my sister who since pandemic has been on the opposite side of the country.

The Pop-Up experience has made me realize that DANNIJO is just as much about bringing color and joy to our customers as it is about bringing joy, light and creativity into my own life. I sincerely hope you have a chance to pop by and see it, if for no other reason than to add some color and beauty into your life.

We're open until July 31st, Tuesday through Sunday from 11am-6pm.

So pop-in, and let summer begin!

Continue the party with late-night drinks at Parker & Lenox, a speakeasy that regularly flies musicians in from New York or Buenos Aires to perform at weekends, and for salsa dancing, Club San Luis in Roma Sur is an experience in itself. It has a 20-piece live band, and the dancing is phenomenal.
