Knitwear Designer - Freelance (Full-Time, New York or Remote)
The Knitwear Designer is responsible for overseeing and executing the design and product development of all fully-fashioned knitwear styles. This role's key focus is to develop knitwear styles that not only speak to the brand, but are also cohesive with the jewelry and other ready-to-wear categories within each delivery season. This candidate should be able to work well with a small and growing team, but also be able to work efficiently independently. This role will have the opportunity to work in a fast paced start-up environment, wear multiple hats, and manage different stages of a collection at once. Strong organizational, critical thinking and communication skills are a must. Intuitive skills in strategy and merchandising are a plus!
Roles and Responsibilities:-Analyze trends in colors and styles, and work with vintage inspiration to apply brand aesthetic to new developments
-Research competitors to sharpen focus on aesthetic differentiation
-Ensure that all development aligns with brand identity and is within target price points
-Assist in the compilation of final production POs each season, track factory deliveries and communicate any updates to the full team.
Requirements:5+ years experience as an designer/assistant designer in knitwear
